Welcome to Wergelandshaugen – where art is alive and time stands still, and where every moment is an opportunity to experience something magical.
Wergelandshaugen is located in a historically rich area with traces from the Middle Ages. Nearby lies Eidsivatinget, a 1,000-year-old assembly site established by the formidable Viking who converted to Christianity and helped Christianize Norway – Saint Olav – after attending mass at Eidsvoll Kirke, one of Norway’s oldest “thing” churches. The Pilgrim Path to Trondheim also passes right by.
The restoration of the old district court residence and the construction of new buildings, carried out from 2018 to 2021, aimed to unite art, architecture, and history. Every choice in the restoration and new development has been deeply rooted in historical, artistic, or natural perspectives.
